I’m offering for sale my Citroën XM, in a configuration that many regard as the most desirable: the combination of the smooth V6 ES9 with the comfort of an automatic gearbox. In my view, it’s the most modern and coherent synthesis of what the XM could offer, perfectly suited to today’s use.
The Heart of the Car: Engine-Transmission Assembly
The standout aspect of this model is its powerplant. The 194hp 24-valve V6 ES9 is a modern engine, renowned for its refinement and reliability, far removed from the roughness of the old PRV. It is paired with the ZF 4HP20 automatic gearbox.
Its well-known weak point is the automatic gearbox, whose reputation suffered from the era’s inappropriate maintenance recommendations. Aware of this issue, particular care has been taken: a full oil change in three successive passes was carried out, strictly following the manufacturer’s ZF protocol. The result is faultless operation, perfectly in line with the car’s grand-tourer character. It spent most of its life south of the Loire, and is therefore exceptionally sound from a corrosion standpoint.

The Exclusive trim offers very comprehensive equipment: leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, wood inserts, automatic climate control and Hydractive II suspension.
To enhance travel comfort without compromising its origin, the audio system has been completely redesigned discreetly. All speakers were replaced with Focal models and an amplifier added. The radio head unit, appearance strictly original, has been modified to integrate Bluetooth connectivity. This gives us high-quality sound and modern streaming, while preserving the dashboard’s immaculate aesthetics.
Condition, History and Transparency:
I have a complete photo dossier available to seriously interested parties. The example stands out for numerous rare preservation details. The HISTOVEC report confirms the clarity of the history and the consistency of the mileage.
Maintenance is documented by numerous invoices, supplemented by interventions I carried out with the help of recognised brand specialists. A partial repaint was also carried out to restore its shine. The car has many rare and/ or costly parts: brand-new gear lever knob (simply unavailable today!), intact keycode trap for the trap door, battery cover...
For total transparency, here are points to note:
Air conditioning requires a recharge.
The exhaust line is functional but will show signs of fatigue in the future. To replace with stainless steel for peace of mind!
The rear spheres will need servicing soon, but the car remains very plush.
