This model, commonly known as, was born from an English engineer who, noticing how many MGs were being scrapped due to corrosion in the 1980s, decided to build a roadster using their mechanical components and evoking pre-war sports cars, particularly the Aston Martin Ulster.
The result, sold as a kit or assembled, features an aluminium and fibreglass body on a bespoke chassis receiving the front and rear subframes from the MGB, as well as the instrumentation and everything else it could salvaged.
Originally planned for the MGB’s 1800cc four-cylinder engine, success and the pursuit of performance led him to also develop a version equipped with the Rover SD1 3. 5 V8 engine and other Range Rover units, also donors.
This model is powered by a Rover SD1 V8, with its five-speed gearbox, and fed by a Holley four-barrel carburettor for a little more power. It is estimated at around 170 horsepower.
The result is a vehicle with a distinctly pre-war aesthetic but with performance more than adequate for today’s road use, and solid reliability.
The cost of potential repairs is also very modest thanks to the use of MG and Rover parts.
This example is registered in the collection vehicle category as NG, with a taxable horsepower of 20hp corresponding to the V8.
It presents in its patina, the bodywork has not been repainted for some time, which gives it undeniable character. The hood is in good condition.
