Description
A beautifully restored BMW 502 Barockengel.
The BMW 502 is a luxury saloon produced by BMW. It can be regarded as the predecessor of the current 7 Series. The BMW 502 was produced from 1954 to 1958.
Mercedes-Benz were quite surprised when BMW unveiled the BMW 502 at the Geneva Motor Show in 1954. Not a straight-six, but a V8; not 80 bhp, but 100 bhp. The BMW 502 immediately eclipsed the Mercedes-Benz Ponton, shown a short time earlier. The BMW 501 and 502 were affectionately nicknamed the “Barockengel” by the public, because they could cruise effortlessly at vertigo-inducing speeds on the Autobahn. The BMW 502, with its 100 bhp V-engine, could even reach a top speed of 160 km/ h. A remarkable performance for the era. The BMW 502 was also the first post-war German car equipped with a V8.
This BMW 502 has been carefully restored in recent years.
