Very beautiful example of a Porsche 356B in its 1. 6L "Super 90" version. A car notable for having been delivered to the first owner by the Swiss importer AMAG, today one of Porsche's largest partners. Their collaboration began in the 1950s with the early 356A and grew steadily over the years.
This car was bought in Cannes on the Côte d'Azur in 1971 by the current owner. A gift for his 18th birthday! More than 50 years later he is proud to tell us that it was his first car, purchased from a young woman staying at the Eden Roc in Cap d'Antibes.
A discerning Porsche collector, he has cared for it throughout his life.
The bodywork is in very nice condition. A repaint was carried out in 2009. It is Matching colour #608 Silver Metallic.
All chrome trim and aesthetic logos are original and in very good condition. Lifting it onto the stands allowed us to confirm the absence of corrosion at the sills and lower sides.
The interior is in its original condition and fairly well preserved. The period seats in vinyl show some signs of normal wear without any serious issues. The headlining is in excellent condition. The instrumentation is functional.
Mechanically, it has been maintained properly. The owner, owning other Porsches, is a seasoned specialist and connoisseur of the marque.
In 2009, he decided to rebuild the engine completely. Cylinders, pistons, rings, bearings and valves were overhauled and restored.
The gearbox has also been opened as well as the clutch for a full kit change (disc, release bearing, mechanism).
Since the complete overhaul, the car has covered only 5, 000 km.
For sale, a full service of the car was carried out:
- engine oil, gearbox and differential drain
- all filters
- plugs and points new
- Carburetion: complete cleaning of the two original SOLEX carburetters and resynchronisation
- Braking system: replacement of linings, wheel cylinders, master brake cylinder
- Complete exhaust new and original-specification
- 4 new tyres
- Comprehensive lubrication
A car faithful to its origin, well cared for and maintained, whose particular history makes it a sought-after exemplar. The driving enjoyment offered by the Super 90 version also makes it a pleasure to drive, more versatile than the early 356A.
