The BMW 320 embodies the mid-to-late 1970s revival. As the first ambassador of the legendary 'Series 3' lineage, this heir to the 2002 imposes a more mature and stately style, marking the advent of modern BMW design with its slanted grille and a cockpit oriented toward the driver. Under the hood, its refined inline-six delivers a smoothness and a velvety driving experience unseen before, becoming BMW’s tradition.

The model we are offering is an 1981 BMW 320 E21, showing fewer than 182, 000 km. The vehicle is in very good condition, entirely original and with a fully documented service history since leaving the factory.

CONFIGURATION & HISTORY
This Series 3 was delivered in August 1981 in its original Graphite Metallic finish, with the iconic aluminium BBS wheels. Inside, there is a beautiful BMW three-spoke leather steering wheel and grey velour upholstery.
In the 320 version, the E21 is powered by a 2. 0L inline-six, delivering 120 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual.
Our 320 has a fully documented history. It was originally delivered to London in England, to a French owner and therefore left-hand drive. He brought it back to France, to Dinan in 1998. The 2nd owner took it on in July 1998, and the vehicle remained in Dinan. He kept it for 12 years, before selling in 2010 to its 3rd owner, residing in the Deux-Sèvres department (79). Its 4th owner, residing in Charente-Maritime, bought it shortly after and kept it until the end of 2013. The vehicle then went to the Gard department (30), at Gajan. It was sold in 2016 to an enthusiast residing in Essonne, before being purchased in November 2023 with 179, 000 km by its current owner.
The vehicle is entirely original, except for the BMW three-spoke steering wheel (original wheel supplied) and chrome mirrors replacing the original plastic ones to good effect.
MAINTENANCE
Thanks to its maintenance booklet and numerous invoices, the vehicle has an excellent service history since its delivery new in 1981.
In November last year a carburetion adjustment was carried out by Garage des Damiers in Vernouillet (28).
The timing belt and tensioner pulley were replaced in June 2025 at 181, 000 km.
The last full service, performed at Departement Classique, dates from June 2024 at 180, 000 km and included:
- Engine oil change and replacement of filters
- Replacement of all six spark plugs
- Complete brake system overhaul (front calipers, rear drums, master cylinder and lines)
- Refitment of the driveshaft flex and bearing
- Replacement of rear wheel cylinders
- Replacement of suspension springs
- Repair of the exhaust system
- Various checks
The four Hankook tyres were replaced at the end of 2024 and are nearly new (about 5, 000 km).
CONDITION
The vehicle is in a very handsome state of preservation. The bodywork has a stunning shine and the chromes are in very good condition. A few minor defects and rare small dings are noted.
The chassis is in excellent condition, with no corrosion.
The interior is in superb condition and shows no excessive wear. The seats show no scratches or tears. The carpets are clean with no stains. A few light scratches on some interior plastics and the dashboard, consistent with the vehicle’s age, are noted.
All equipment is fully functional. The engine and transmission run smoothly.
Generally, this E21 is in a condition well above average for a car of its age and mileage.
