Description
The myth of the Chevrolet Corvette goes back to 1953 (at the height of the US car boom), and one could say that the sporty model offered by Chevrolet transcends decades, with each generation managing to leave its mark, as is still the case today with the new Corvette C8.
The 3rd generation, the C3 (C for Corvette, the number marking the generation), was launched in 1967 and produced until 1982, i. e. 15 years of production. Although it borrowed elements from the Corvette C2 (engine and chassis), it presented a completely new look, both outside and inside. And what a LOOK…!
The year 1978 marks the 25th anniversary of the Corvette, and all C3s produced in 1978 wore silver nose and fuel cap emblems. A new fastback-type rear window was the most spectacular styling change (offering more rear space and better visibility). Its engine remained the V8 5. 7L developing 208hp and the bodywork is polyester to save weight.
NYC’s/ OXOTO offers for sale a Corvette C3 25th anniversary, from September 1978, currently with less than 94, 500 miles on the odometer, in grey, grey leather interior.
We have good traceability of this Corvette’s life, which remained in the USA for a long time, in Arizona, with the same owner (we have a large number of invoices under the same name). In 2014 it was imported into Belgium, still owned by the same owner for 12 years.
The bodywork presents very well, though there are a few fine scratches in various places, but this does not, in our view, require a new paint job.
The interior is generally in good condition but not perfect: overall wear due to age and use is to be noted — wear of the carpets, the seats’ leather, the door panels and the centre console.
Regarding the mechanical side, we have a very thorough service and parts history; see on our site all the invoices. We can confirm that it runs well, having travelled by road to join our premises (over 100 km).
See on our site the photos taken on the ramp.
The last technical inspection was carried out in December 2025 (94, 374 miles on the odometer) and mentions only 3 minor remarks: a steering ball joint, the presence of superficial corrosion (although we saw nothing on the ramp) and the request for the chassis number certificate, which, of course, we have.
A ramp is also available in our premises to display the underside of the vehicle.
Vehicle viewable by appointment at our Belgian establishment.
