Description
Carlo Francesco Lombardi, the son of a wealthy rice-producing family, had founded his coachbuilding business in Vercelli in 1947. Like most of his better-known—or less well-known—contemporaries, the modest Lombardi coachbuilder built lightly modified fiat specials and was often kitted out with flashy accessories. He therefore developed the fiat 850 with its engine mounted at the rear overhang, the equivalent of our Renault 8 and Simca 1000, in many variants with bespoke bodywork throughout the 1960s. An interesting sporty coupé, called “Grand Prix”, was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968. This time it wasn’t just a case of simple reworking, but a proper creation. Its attractive, chunky and aggressive body was designed by Giuseppe Rinaldi.
This well-proportioned coupé, with its retractable headlights, catches the eye of two Italian tuners: Abarth and Giannini. Both will market the “Grand Prix” coupé alongside Lombardi, the first under the name “Scorpione” and the second as “Otas 820”. The Scorpione is unveiled at the Turin and Paris motor shows.
Wonderful 1968 Otas Lombardi Scorpione Grand Prix coupé in excellent condition! Its sporty lines give it an irresistible charm, and its engine will keep making you want to hear it roar. This isn’t a car you see every day—our vehicle carries number 33 out of 120. It’s not one to miss.
This vehicle can be seen in our showroom in Salins-les-Bains. Don’t hesitate to come and visit us! For more information, we invite you to contact us directly by phone so we can discuss your project together.
