Description
175cc with an overhead cam!
FB-Mondial (1948-1979) was a Milan-based motorcycle manufacturer in Italy between 1948 and 1979, known for its successes racing motorcycles in the World Championships during the 1950s. The company produced some of the most advanced and successful road racers in the world of the era, and won the world championships 5 times. The "F. B." in the name stood for "Fratelli Boselli", the Boselli brothers. At a time when MV Agusta and Ducati were turning out lightweight, economical, two-stroke motorcycles and mopeds, Mondial built a high-quality sport bike. The Mondial factory in Milan was much smaller than the big outfits like Moto Guzzi, Gilera or Benelli, and was more of a boutique maker specialising in high-performance small-displacement motorcycles. A large portion of each engine’s production was done by hand, keeping output low, with production figures typically ranging between 1000 and 2000 units per year. In 1949, when MV Agusta decided to produce a four-stroke engine, they bought a Mondial four-stroke engine for reference. Mondial had also prepared a motorcycle with desmodromic valves (for Ducati), but it never went into production.
This model is a 175cc (Turismo Veloce) with an overhead cam. This bike, rarely sold, is in very good original condition.
