Description
175cc with overhead cam!
FB-Mondial (1948-1979) was a Milan, Italy-based motorcycle manufacturer between 1948 and 1979, known for its success racing motorcycles in the World Championships in the 1950s. The company produced some of the world’s most advanced and successful road racers of the era, and won the world championships 5 times. The 'F. B.' in the name stood for 'Fratelli Boselli', the Boselli brothers. At a time when MV Agusta and Ducati were producing light and economical two-stroke motorcycles and scooters, Mondial built a high-quality sports bike. The Mondial factory in Milan was far smaller than the big firms of Moto Guzzi, Gilera or Benelli, and was more of a boutique maker specialising in high-performance small-displacement motorcycles. A large part of the production of each engine was hand-built, which kept output low, with production figures typically between 1000 and 2000 units per year. In 1949, when MV Agusta decided to produce a four-stroke engine, they bought a Mondial four-stroke engine as an example. Mondial had also prepared a motorcycle with desmodromic valves (for Ducati), but it never went into production.
This model is a 175cc (Turismo Veloce) with overhead cam. This motorcycle, rarely sold, is in very good original condition.
