The Renault Spider wind-deflector follows the Alpine, which became Alpine Renault and then, finally... Renault Sport!
And yes, it is indeed the first Renault Sport in history!
And at a time when the management has buried the name, one could say that this will only contribute to its own myth.
Nobody links it directly to the A110, but now that it’s celebrating its 30th anniversary (hello the black plates ;) we can quite properly place it in the middle of the A110 family, 21 years separate it from the last 1600SX and 21 years from the first A110 delivered on 9 March 2017 (to our friend JLL).
Filiation is beyond dispute!
The chassis is of rare performance and it opened the way in the most beautiful way.
No room for compromise, the Spider comes from the passion of someone convinced that a pure pleasure car wasn’t reserved for an elite!
The comparison with the Lotus Elise is obvious, but the Spider went even further!
It’s a true proto, its butterfly doors and its wind-deflector remain features that very rarely leave salon prototypes… And yet… Renault dared:
438 examples of this eccentric, homologated barchetta.
Around 90 with wind-deflectors were produced in Blue Sport.
For us, this is the most beautiful configuration, a direct nod to the Berlinette but with its own extra touch of uniqueness!
Absolutist collector’s item, it has a rightful place in a collection alongside the greats, especially with very low mileage and perfect, totally original condition (even the exhaust, which is rare).
It comes with its briefcase, all its booklets, a miniature model and a windbreaker!
