Description
For sale: a 1963 right-hand-drive Jaguar MK2, 3. 4-litre engine with automatic transmission. It has 45, 000 miles on the odometer.
This car runs very well and should be road-ready for long distances. The brake calipers were overhauled earlier this year, the engine has been drained and the oil filter changed last year. We have owned this car for almost ten years and have used it relatively little due to lack of time and because we have other classic cars as well. Since owning it, we have reupholstered the seats which were torn, but the rear bench remains original. The differential seals were changed 5–6 years ago. The carburettors and ignition were overhauled and tuned two years ago. The paintwork was redone by the previous owner, but apparently he wasn’t a bodyshop or automotive painter, so the paint isn’t perfect, but it has protected the car.
We put it on the ramp and found the bodyshell to be very solid; even after removing the interior to redo the seats, we did not find any corrosion. This MK2 can be used as-is without planning major work. Only the tyres need addressing as they are aged and have started cracking.
The negatives of this car are mainly cosmetic (poor paint, wood trim worn by time), but it could suit someone who wants to enjoy this model and undertake work gradually.
I took a photo of the sole bodywork defect caused by an object that fell on it in my garage.
The MOT will be performed for the sale, the logbook is classified as a historic vehicle.
