Description
For sale: Jaguar MK2, right-hand drive, dating from 1963, 3. 4-litre engine with automatic transmission. It has 45, 000 miles on the clock.
This car runs very well and is capable of covering long distances. The brake calipers were refurbished at the start of the year, the engine has been serviced and the oil filter changed last year.
We have owned this car for almost ten years and have used it relatively little due to lack of time and because we also have other classic cars.
Since owning the car we have reupholstered the seats which were torn, but the rear bench remains original. The differential seals were changed 5 or 6 years ago. The carburettors and ignition were overhauled and tuned two years ago.
The paint was redone by the previous owner, but apparently he wasn’t a panel beater or automotive painter, so the paint isn’t great, but it has protected the car.
We put it on a ramp and found the shell to be very solid; even after dismantling the interior to redo the seats, we did not find any corrosion.
This MK2 can be used as is without planning major work. Only the tyres require attention as they are aged and starting to crack.
The negatives of this car are mainly aesthetic (poor paint, wood trim worn by time), but it may suit someone who wants to use this model and plan the work gradually.
I photographed the only bodywork defect caused by an object falling on it in my garage.
The MOT will be carried out for the sale, and the registration is listed as a collector’s vehicle.
