Framo – abbreviation of “Frankenberg Motorenwerke” – laid the foundations for what would become after the war the famous Barkas brand. The 901/ 1 is an early witness to this technological evolution and its societal role.
Initially designed as a compact and lightweight utility vehicle, the Framo 901/ 1 offered a practical solution for local artisans, rural transport and urban logistics. Its innovative four-wheel design, based on the old Framo tricycles, made it particularly agile and stable. Its robust ladder-frame chassis and simple two-stroke technology made it an astonishingly versatile vehicle.
This 1939 example has been fully restored. The wooden cargo bed has been handcrafted and rebuilt, the bodywork stripped and repainted in a historic shade. The two-cylinder two-stroke engine has been completely overhauled and runs perfectly. The interior has also been restored with respect for the original.
