In September 1972, Simca launched the 1000 Rallye 2 powered by a Poissy 1, 294 cc engine developing 82 hp DIN at 6, 000 rpm and a maximum torque of 11 mkg at 4, 400 rpm. Thanks to its two horizontal double-barrel carburettors and its 860 kg, it tops out at 162 km/ h. Braking is provided by four disc brakes. On the outside, an air intake is fitted under the front bumper to cool the water radiator now located at the front. Two bucket seats and a dual-circuit braking system improve safety. By 1976, power increases to 86 hp DIN and top speed to 165 km/ h. This latest version is recognisable by its rear spoiler.
