In 1990, the Alpina B12 5. 0 Coupé was introduced, based on the BMW 850i. This grand tourer was already a huge success for BMW, and such rarity soon confirmed its value among enthusiasts.
Alpina has always followed its own vision and made substantial technical changes. Alpina used different pistons, larger inlet valves, a specific exhaust system and a slightly modified Bosch Motronic engine management. The B12 5. 0 was available exclusively with a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Alpina also refined the chassis, fitted 17-inch twenty-spoke wheels and extended the front spoiler. As an option – and specified on this example – there’s the famous Alpina stripe livery. Behind this creation is the genius Burkard Bovensiepen, who since 1962 had been driven by the ambition to push beyond the limits of BMW’s official preparations. With an uncompromising demand for quality, Alpina impressed BMW as early as 1964, to the point where Alpina kits were covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
And this one? As you’ll have guessed: one of just 97 ever produced, originally delivered in Germany, complete with a full maintenance file and documented history detailing its life down to the finest detail. It’s presented in the special BMW Sonderlackierung Dunkel Sapphire Blue Metallic and in exceptional original condition, waiting for its new owner.
