Description
La Pagode: an indispensable name for classic car enthusiasts. And not just for its breathtaking look. Before it, Mercedes offered two magnificent convertibles: the 190 SL and the 300 SL Gullwing. But one was too slow, and the other far too expensive. Mercedes therefore imagined this elegant new model, packed with enhancements. Safety was an absolute priority, never sacrificing form or elegance. The result? A clean, harmonious design. The roof featured a unique, slightly concave shape designed for safety in the event of a rollover – and it’s this resemblance to an oriental temple that earned it the nickname: La Pagode. A name that would become legendary. Design and engineering united in perfect harmony to create a car built to glide gracefully through life. Timeless and quintessentially Mercedes.
You probably know us a little, and you know that we are always on the lookout for exceptional parts, cars with character. Here’s a 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL, delivered new in Europe and equipped with a rare 4-speed manual gearbox. Only 10% of W113s were built with a manual transmission.
Wearing a superb Rosso Signal red and an interior in black leather, this car is also fitted with a hardtop, air conditioning and a rare third rear bench seat as an option. A bench seat that probably no human will ever use, but which a faithful four-legged companion would dream of.
We’re still surprised by the modernity of this “beauty of the 60s” on the road. Looking for a solid investment? A superb classic car? Or both? Do come see us soon—we could take a drive together.
