Description
Biarritz Sports and Classic Cars (BSCC) are pleased to present this Jidé 1600S.
Artisanal French manufacturer, the company Jidé, led by Jacques Durand, produced only 130 cars between 1969 and 1974.
Initially, a R8 Gordini mechanical base equipped these cars to evolve up to the 1600S, which was fitted with the R12 Gordini engine.
After Jidé was sold, Mr Durand created the Scora company, which produced other sporting vehicles, but that is another story…
This Jidé has undergone a full restoration between 2019 and 2022. It was prepared with the aim of homologation in Group 5, as in the era.
The car does not currently have a PTH but this is, of course, achievable by the preparer based in Aquitaine who oversaw its restoration.
The light blue livery “Hafa” was chosen in homage to Jean Ragnotti’s 1972 scheme.
At the wheel, the car impresses with faultless handling. Well planted on the ground, the braking is reassuring. The R12 Gordini engine, developing around 150 bhp, sings in the driver’s ears. The short, Monte Carlo 365-style gearbox is very responsive and delivers lots of thrills.
Only tall drivers will struggle to squeeze in and out of this small cockpit.
This rare and exotic Jidé is part of early 1970s French automotive heritage and is eligible, among others, for the Tour Auto, the Monte-Carlo Historic Rally and the Historic Tour de Corse.
Rare on the market, this is the second one we have the chance to commercialise.
