Belgian Saroléa model 31R. This is a 500cc overhead-valve Racing model dating from 1931. This model was released in 1930 as a faster version of the 24U and also featured a vertical cylinder. 1931 was the first year of production of this model as a racing motorcycle. Fewer than 200 examples were made that year. The Racing version was produced until 1934, when it was replaced by the Monotube. The motorcycle is fitted with Bosch ignition and a dynamo for lighting. It starts and runs perfectly and has covered many miles. As an option, it is equipped with a speedometer graduated to 150 km/ h, driven by a gear in the front wheel. This model was also fitted with drum brakes with cooling fins, as you can see in the photos. The Saroléa 500 31R bearing the number 250607 was sold to Machand in Bouillon on 23-04-1931.
