The Silver Spur II — or “ultra-luxury”, as Rolls-Royce called it in the 1980s.
It matches, in fact, the long-wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit II (with an extra 10 cm of wheelbase added), a limousine produced between 1989 and 1993.
And it’s the very definition of comfort for the era, with features such as self-levelling/ piloted suspension, adjustable rear seats, heated front seats, air conditioning, rear picnic tables…
On the engine side, it’s fitted with Rolls’ famous “six and three-quarter”, as it was nicknamed at Rolls! A 6. 75-litre capacity producing roughly 250 bhp. Coupled with an automatic gearbox.
Produced in only 1, 658 examples in this MKII specification, this car is therefore a rare sight.
You can spot it easily thanks to its Everflex roof, which gives it a distinctive touch.
This example was delivered new to the Rolls-Royce dealership in Monaco, “Global Garage”, on 19/ 12/ 1989. Its first owner kept it until December 1993, having covered just over 8, 000 km.
Not having much spare time to drive it, he decided to entrust it to a collector friend — making it the second owner right up to today. Today it shows 128, 330 km and is in a superb state of preservation. It has remained true to the original specification while being serviced regularly.
The bodywork is beautifully presented in its metallic blue colour. The black vinyl roof shows no defects. The gold coachlines along the sides are also like new.
On this model, it’s worth noting that the openings/ doors and similar parts are made in aluminium.
It also has original 15-inch magnesium wheels, with the centre cap slightly worn. It’s fitted with whitewall tyres.
Getting the car onto the lift allowed us to confirm there’s no corrosion. It has spent its entire life in a closed garage, which explains this excellent condition of the floors, underbodies, wheel arches and other areas.
The interior is in good condition. Luxury is definitely on point, with an all-leather interior, “moumoutte”-style carpets, chrome and high-quality wood trim. The air conditioning is fitted and fully functional. It has electric and heated seats, electric windows and power steering. The rear passengers have small tables as well as individual seat adjustment.
The dashboard is in excellent condition, with no cracking either on top or on the wooden section. The instruments are fully operational. A few wear-related issues are visible due to age, such as on some console buttons, plus patina on the driver’s seat and the armrest — the kind of characteristic marks of normal ageing/ wear.
Finally, on the engine side, this car has the special feature of being equipped with what’s called the “AFRICA cooling kit”, with a more capable setup than the base system. The original engine is maintained properly by a specialised mechanic. All the replaced parts come from Rolls Monaco.
Among the recent costs/ works:
- engine/ gearbox oil change and differential oil change plus all filters
- replacement of the power steering rack
- replacement of the fuel module
With the low mileage and regular servicing, this car is almost “run-in”.
Driving a Rolls-Royce is a truly unique experience… No other car can give you that same feeling of luxury and comfort.
The Silver Spur II, thanks to its more accessible budget, could allow you to make a childhood dream come true — who knows?
