Body / Exterior: The model shown here is a January 1967 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK3 BJ8 in its period colour “Ice Metallic Blue”. The bodywork is in excellent presentational condition and the paint has a deep shade and excellent shine. After professional polishing on our orbital machine, we noticed a small paint chip on the top of the left-hand front wing and a slight misalignment of the bonnet. The chrome front and rear bumpers, along with their overriders, are in good condition despite a few light signs of oxidation. The “Blue” mohair hood is in excellent condition; it was replaced in 2022 (invoice: €2, 390). The mica on the rear window has a few micro-scratches. Fitting the hood is straightforward and its weather-sealing remains up to the standards of the time. This example is fitted with a hood cover in simulated leather in “Blue”. The 4 chrome wire wheels in 15" are in perfect condition. The 4 chrome knock-offs are also in good condition. The 2 front tyres DIMAR Classic show 15% wear. The 2 rear tyres HANKOOK show 5% wear. This car has retained its original spare wheel (chrome wire wheel). Among the interesting equipment and options under “Body / Exterior” fitted to this example, we noted: the hood cover in simulated leather in “Blue”.
Interior: The “Blue” simulated-leather upholstery with “Gold” piping was restored a few years ago and remains in very good condition. Matching door panels and the central console in simulated leather in “Blue” are in perfect condition. The central armrest in simulated leather in “Blue” has a small tear. The dashboard pad/ hood (dash top) in simulated leather in “Black” is in very good condition. The dashboard and glovebox in walnut veneer are in perfect condition. This example is fitted with a 3-spoke wood MOTO-LITA steering wheel as well as 2-point “aviation” style seatbelts. The wood gear knob (AUSTIN HEALEY) shows an even patina of use. The complete set of original SMITHS instruments is perfectly functional. Only the ventilation/ heating control unit is no longer operational. The period radio is no longer functional but has been kept for aesthetic reasons. The “Blue” carpets show slight fading. The front areas are protected by custom-made AUSTIN HEALEY PVC over-mats in “Black”. Among the interesting “interior” equipment and options fitted to this example, we noted: the 3-spoke MOTO LITA wood steering wheel, the “Blue” simulated-leather upholstery with “Gold” piping, and the “aviation” style seatbelts.
Chassis: Lifting it on to the ramp confirms a sound chassis and body, with no apparent structural corrosion. The key areas—floorpans, sills, ladder-frame sections and box/ side rails (longerons)—are in good condition. We noticed a few small jack marks under the right-hand longeron and the lower wing area…
