Sadly, I’m selling my 1987 Volkswagen Golf 2 GL.
Golf 2 Phase 1 (’84–’87 model years), 1. 8L 90hp petrol engine, 5-speed manual gearbox, GL trim, 179, 000 miles on the clock (still increasing).
Original specification respected (no modifications or customisation). Quite rare as a GL “small squares” on our roads.
Solid overall, with a few areas of light surface corrosion.
Jade Green L6YN, very presentable bodywork condition. With its original monograms.
Complete, original “small squares” interior (still covered with covers in the photos) — remarkably well preserved.
Very good working order. Regular maintenance, invoices available.
Recent main work carried out:
- 8 hydraulic tappets replaced by me at 170, 000 miles (the main weak point of the GU engine).
- Recent timing belt kit + water pump.
- Original Pierburg 2E2 carburettor still fitted and working.
- New clutch kit.
- Brand-new rear shock absorbers.
