The Austin-Healey 3000 is a sports car built between 1959 and 1967 by Jensen Motors for the Austin-Healey marque. Specialists commonly refer to it by the nickname “Big”, in reference to its large 3-litre engine. It enjoyed numerous sporting successes in rallying at the time, and even today it’s still raced by brand enthusiasts. The 3000 MK III is powered by a straight-six, 2912 cc, with two SU HD8 carburettors, a side camshaft and a four-bearing crankshaft. It develops 148 bhp at 5250 rpm. Power is sent through a four-speed gearbox (1st gear unsynchronised) and a Normanville Laycock overdrive. The front suspension is independent with triangular wishbones and coil springs. At the rear, there’s a rigid axle, semi-elliptic leaf springs and a Panhard rod. The brakes are disc at the front and drum at the rear. The car weighs 1120 kg and can reach a top speed of 195 km/ h. This car was fully restored in England by professionals in 2009. After 15 years in the ownership of its current owner, he’s parting with it reluctantly for health reasons. He has cared for it meticulously, while also making a few improvements such as power steering for genuine driving comfort, the *** stainless-steel exhaust system which gives it an enchanting soundtrack, a long-range headlamp beam/ running bar with additional spotlights and fog lights, and an extra electric fan for better cooling. Its most recent MOT test (2021), valid until 2026, has no advisories.
