Classic Car Design offers you this beautiful 1992 Mercedes 500 SL cabriolet in an original, refined shade—Bornit—perfectly matched with grey leather upholstery. Launched in 1989, the R129 replaced the R107 after almost two decades of service for the latter. Far more advanced technologically, it delivers high-level performance and a smooth, flowing shape thanks to designer Bruno Sacco. It has since become a classic among the “modern” SLs.
On the outside, the two-tone bodywork is in very good overall condition, with very little sign of use. The 16-inch Alamak alloy wheels show no signs of impact or scuffing. The hard-top, supplied with the car, completes the electro-hydraulically operated soft top.
Inside, the grey leather upholstery is very well preserved, as are the dashboard and the central console in wood. The front seats, with orthopaedic backrests, are electrically adjustable and heated; they show no notable wear. Note: it’s a four-seat version. The air conditioning works perfectly. This particular example is fitted with rear seats—a less common configuration on this model.
Mechanically, the car features a 5. 0-litre V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox, a well-regarded setup for reliability. The whole package is remarkably smooth in operation and also quite punchy. The non-pilot (non-adaptive) suspension provides excellent road manners, with a comfort-oriented feel and better overall dependability. The car is equipped with cruise control. Sold to its current owner by the well-known company Rock N Roll classics, the service booklet and the Carpass show regular maintenance, largely carried out by Mercedes-Benz dealerships.
