Description
Simca Aronde Monaco special from 1961
p60, the last and most refined, sporty model in the Aronde coupé range: 2-door coach without a B-pillar
concours condition; underwent a full restoration last year
everything was rebuilt to the highest standards: stripping and underbody treatments—light anti-rust and anti-gravel coating,
black epoxy lacquer on the running gear; the body was stripped back to bare metal on the bodywork side too, with a rebuild of the lower sills using outer sheet metal only, the rest being in very sound condition, plus a small section reformed on the rear skirt, with internal treatment, etc., etc. (a car that was very healthy to start with)
laquered paint in the original colour, chrome re-finished to new, all parts refitted to the vehicle were painted, polished, restored, greased, etc.—replaced if needed, new where possible, and all gaskets are new
mechanical side: Engine Rush Super M, 70cv—completely rebuilt to as-new condition, with full cylinder head rebuild and valve lapping/ seat work, new pistons and rings, new connecting-rod bearings, new clutch, new engine gaskets, new fuel pump, ignition fully overhauled, PBIC 34 carburettor specific to this model also rebuilt; engine radiator and heater radiator rebuilt as new, full wiring loom replacement, brand-new exhaust, new tyres and brakes, and new shock absorbers—everything is new
gearbox: cleaned and overhauled, new crankshaft oil seals (SKF), rear axle ratios—943 specific to the model; special—see photos
interior: the headlining/ roof cloth has been rebuilt to new, as have the door panels. The Naugayde seats and bench are original to this model; only these special Arondes had this interior. It’s in magnificent condition with a little lived-in character that doesn’t detract. Waxed flooring mats, dashboard repainted, steering column also redone.
and nothing was overlooked: new bolts/ hardware, etc., etc., etc.
rare model: known at fewer than 10 examples. It won’t lose value over the years—reliable and easy to drive, usable every day. It really goes hard; it covers any distance—a real pleasure.
A Simca period gem: the open P60 “grail” to offers, but not for swaps.
Cldt collectors—photos available but I don’t have time; come and see it.
