Description
This 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220 S Coupé "Ponton" benefited from a previous restoration carried out in Japan and comes with extensive documentation of its maintenance history.
More recently, the engine underwent a partial overhaul, with invoices totalling around €6, 000. Several other works have been completed to improve reliability, notably the suspension, tyres and a full service.
The original engine has been replaced with a later 220 SE unit dating from the mid-1960s. The car runs well, features a very sound, corrosion-free chassis, and can be used regularly.
Originally blue, it is now finished in metallic silver grey 180. The roof is covered with easily removable vinyl. An additional air conditioning system has also been fitted, though it will require servicing.
An elegant classic Mercedes, well presented, reliable and ideal for leisurely drives or historic rallies.
