Description

1923 CITROËN 5HP + VERY LARGE STOCK OF PARTS – SEVERAL ENGINES, GEARBOXES, AXLES, RADIATORS

PRICE FOR QUICK SALE OF THE LOT: €11, 900

For sale: a 1923 Citroën 5HP, kept in the same family since 1964, accompanied by a very large stock of Citroën 5HP parts accumulated over more than 60 years.

This is therefore not simply the sale of a classic car to be restored to working order, but a package comprising the car plus a veritable treasure trove of period mechanical parts and accessories, which would be difficult to replicate today.

THE CITROËN 5HP

1923 Citroën 5HP, short chassis, two-seater body with a passenger-side door.

4-cylinder engine of approximately 856 cm³
3-speed gearbox
Pointed rear end with external boot and luggage rack
Original framed side windows
Bakelite steering wheel
Well-preserved original upholstery
Original black soft top
Spare wheel
Original jack
Numerous original features retained

The car was purchased by its owner in 1964 and restored at that time in keeping with its original configuration.

It was then stored indoors from around 1970 and has remained virtually intact and very little used ever since.

The mechanics are not seized.

Given that it has been off the road for over 50 years, it is obviously sold in a condition requiring servicing and preparation before any driving: fluids, fuel system, brakes, tyres and mechanical checks will need to be carried out in particular.

The car is of particular interest to an enthusiast seeking a vintage 5HP that has been preserved for a very long time, rather than a vehicle that has undergone multiple modern restorations.

A VERY LARGE STOCK OF PARTS INCLUDED

This is one of the main attractions of this sale.

The car comes with a considerable stock of Citroën 5HP parts, assembled and preserved over several decades.

This includes, in particular:

several spare engines, with their various components, to be reassembled or restored;
several gearboxes;
several rear axles and drivetrain components;
radiators;
flywheels;
steering parts;
leaf springs and suspension components;
braking components;
clutches;
rims and wheels;
vintage lights;
rear-view mirrors and accessories;
two vintage hydraulic jacks;
numerous other mechanical parts;
several boxes of small parts and accessories.

Some of the brake and clutch parts had been refurbished by SOGAFREM.

The engines and various mechanical parts have been preserved coated in grease, in accordance with the storage methods of the time.

The stock is spread across several storage areas and, given its size, it is impossible to show everything in the advert. The photographs therefore show only a selection of the parts available.

The remainder of the stock can, of course, be shown to a genuinely interested buyer during a viewing.

DOCUMENTS AND HISTORY

The car notably includes:

its vehicle registration document / old registration certificate;
historical technical documentation;
a technical inspection report;
historical photographs, including one of the car dating from 1964.

It also boasts a family provenance linked to top-level French sport, documented by period photographs.

FOR COLLECTORS, RESTORERS OR PROFESSIONALS

The appeal of this lot lies as much in the car itself as in the quantity of parts that accompany it.

For a Citroën 5HP enthusiast, having immediate access to several engines, gearboxes, rear axles, radiators and a very large number of spare parts represents an opportunity that would be difficult to replicate today by sourcing items one by one.

PRICE: €11, 900 FOR THE LOT

The price has been deliberately set at this level to facilitate a quick sale of the car and its stock of parts.

Preference is given to the sale of the entire lot.

Viewing by appointment only.
