Description

Austin Seven RL Saloon 1930

Brand History

The Austin Seven was unveiled to the public in 1922. Sir Herbert Austin, who would later become Lord Austin, was the driving force behind the Seven's design. Much of the detailed engineering and development was carried out by Stanley Edge, who was one of the key figures behind the various Austin Seven models.

Over the years, Austin produced the Seven in numerous body styles, including tourers, saloons, fabric-bodied saloons, sports models and many others.

The RL was the fixed steel-bodied saloon version, unlike the fabric-bodied models.

The RL Saloon was part of the range developed to meet demand from customers wanting a closed-body car, offering notably better protection from the elements, rather than an open tourer.

The Austin Seven RL Saloon was produced from May 1930 to February 1931, a particularly short production run.

Only a small number of RL models have survived to the present day, making an example such as this particularly interesting and sought-after.

The Car Today

The Engine

The engine is a four-cylinder with a displacement of 747 cc. The car is equipped with a three-speed gearbox with reverse.

This 1930 Austin Seven RL is in excellent condition.

Around 1950-1951, the Austin was transferred to the Netherlands and was officially registered there in August 1955.

Since then, the car has remained in the same family, passing from generation to generation, from parents to children and then to grandchildren. It has been carefully preserved and has always been stored indoors.

The Austin starts easily, runs smoothly and changes gear properly. All of the car's equipment functions as it should. The lights and indicators are also in perfect working order.

This unique and particularly rare 1930 Austin Seven RL Saloon is now for sale.
