1962 PEUGEOT 404 SALOON - ORIGINAL RUNNING CONDITION - UNRESTORED BODYWORK AND SEATS. Only 3 OWNERS (my grandfather, my father and myself). In recent years the car has been kept in dry storage; however the upholstery and sills have suffered from the passage of time and mountain winter weather. EXTERIOR: original colour, new tyres, chrome as on the headlamps and bumpers, roof rack, front floorpan corroded and in need of replacing, as are the jacking points and the two crossmembers at the front and rear. INTERIOR: trim matched to the exterior colour, original dashboard and instruments intact, five seats including two reclining front seats, floor covered in carpet including the boot. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION: the car is fitted with the original 1. 6-litre four-cylinder engine and a manual gearbox. It offers a pleasant driving experience in its original state. HISTORY: the car was delivered new in Corrèze to my grandfather, who used it until his death in 1965. My father then used it mainly for long journeys, but in 1992 the contrôle technique came in and he retired the car in favour of a smaller one, hence 'the car's retirement'. Today this lovely history deserves to continue with a collector who will give it a new lease of life.
