Produced by Porsche from 1997 to the present day, the Boxster (the name derived from its Boxer engine & Roadster chassis ) is a very capable 2 seat sports car which has always been a popular choice for the sporting driver.
With the 3.2s being the more focused thoroughbred performance car with more power and a firmer ride than the 2.7, Porsche further increased the driving experience for the Anniversary Edition.
The engine featured an increase in power to 266 bhp, suspension was lowered, 18” Carrera alloys were fitted amongst other upgrades.
First registered in March 2004 by supplying dealers The Porsche Centre at Colchester, Essex, it would appear to have spent much of its early life in the Colchester area.
Indeed, the service book shows Porsche Colchester stamps up to 2011 & documents indicates a move up to Manchester around 2019.
Porsche service book, handbook and other leaflets are presented in the Porsche supplied folder. There is a current Mot certificate valid to October 2022 and a small number of receipts for recent maintenance work carried.
The black leather interior with colour coordinated centre console & dash insert, shows very little wear and is in a highly presentable condition. Door cards and carpets too show little wear and illustrates how well this Boxster has been looked after by previous owners.
Benefiting from both cruise control & air conditioning ( although currently blowing warm air due to a leaking pipe ) the interior is certainly well equipped.
Overall, the interior is excellent and testament to Porsche build quality.
This Anniversary Edition looks stunning in its GT Silver metallic paint and sitting on 18” 5 spoke Carrera alloys with spokes finished in a contrasting Seal Grey.
The bodywork really is in superb condition, with no noticeable defects during the photoshoot. Wheels too show no signs of scuffing with only a few minor chips to detract from their appearance, but nothing that couldn’t be tidied with a steady hand and a small brush.
Tyres are all ‘N’ rated matching Michelin Pilots with approximately 5mm of tread all round.
The roof when raised is also in great condition, showing no signs of deterioration and would appear to be watertight, moving up and down as requested.
Starting from cold immediately when asked, there was no sign of smoke from the sports exhaust which emitted a satisfying growl.
This Boxster is said by the vendor to drive very well, without any adverse engine or suspension noises. Brakes are up to spec and pull the car up straight and true. They have the benefit of new discs & pads, front and rear in November 2020.
Other recent receipts show a gearbox oil and filter replacement in March 2019 and the vendor suggests that the Tiptronic gearbox performs as expected. Certainly, for the photoshoot, the Porsche appeared to change up and down the gearbox with ease.
Well, it’s a Porsche which says heaps about the desirability of this Boxster.
Powerful engine, rear wheel drive, open topped motoring at it’s best and with this being the rare, sought after 550 Spyder Anniversary model, exclusivity springs to mind. You won’t find many of these at your local car meet.
In summary, a very usable day to day Porsche that’s been well looked after by previous owners and should give excellent service for many years to come.
