The Appeal

With its elegant lines penned by Giovanni Michelotti and its robust four-cylinder engine, the Triumph TR4 has established itself as one of the benchmarks for historic rallying and amateur motorsport. This 1964 example has been prepared with a clear competition focus.

Its 2.2-litre engine benefits from a sports camshaft, twin Weber 45 dual-choke carburettors and a 4-into-1 exhaust manifold, delivering approximately 150 bhp. The preparation is completed by a roll cage, period leather bucket seats, harnesses, and an aluminium dashboard equipped with a Stack rev counter. To reduce weight, the rear wings and boot lid have been fashioned from fibreglass. The whole package is enhanced by a striking "Ferdinand Bachmann" competition livery, inspired by cars entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1960s.

Owned by its current keeper since August 2020, this TR4 has received consistent maintenance. The most recent work includes refurbishment of the front brake calipers and replacement of the pads in 2025, as well as replacement of the master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder in the same year.

A hard-top is supplied with the vehicle. According to the seller, the car can be converted back to road configuration through the installation of a soft-top hood, carpets and an original dashboard.
