For reluctant sale due to change of circumstances is my very rare Rover 820 Sterling Coupe.
I have lusted after one of these since the early 2000’s and waited for the right car in the right colour combination to come up. In July 2016 this car in Nightfire red with Stone Beige carpets and burgundy carpets came up for sale.
It is believed one of only 76 manual 820 coupes of which there must be less than 15 left, because you hardly see them.
It was first registered to British Telecom PLC under Kenning Leaseline for 2 years and then it spent its next 15 years in Plymouth before going to Epping, Hitchin and now Wales. I am the 7th Keeper.
The car features electric memory leather seats, Climate control, electric windows/ roof, remote locking and six disc changer with two magazines. There are probably many other features that I have forgotten.
The car comes with every MOT from new, wedges of bills/ receipts, 1998 Rover 800 brochure, 1997 Rover cars brochure, 1998 Rover accessories portfolio, Rare 1997 Rover staff pocket guide featuring the Rover Range specs which goes into detail of everything including gear ratios, Classic car weekly valuation of the car for £1600, DVLA previous owners report (V888), owner’s manual signed by Fuzz Towsend and Tim Shaw, dealer directory, R960 audio guide, leather binder and service history.
The car will come with spare parts such as passenger door and wing in nightfire, starter motor and other sundry items.
I am waiting for a new o/ s fog light and boot release to be delivered.
The car drives very well, in fact, I am driving it to Calais to a car show in a couple of weeks (unless it sells!) and would not hesitate driving it anywhere.
This year it has had a new exhaust inc cat, cam belt, rear discs/ pads and a battery. I include a new water pump for when the time comes as it did not need changing.
The car has never had or needed any welding and there is evidence in the history of the filler neck being replaced.
The car was also featured on the Rover 800 owners stand at the 2017 NEC Restoration Show where it received great praise as it does at every car show.
This car is going to be one that I will miss but am selling this and another now that my beloved Triumph Spitfire is back on the road.
I am looking to replace this and my other car with a Rover 75 Connoisseur Auto Estate with Nav and towbar. Should you have one, I will gladly do a deal.
The car comes with 12 months MOT until (11/ 07/ 2019).
The cherished registration is available by separate negotiation as are the purchase of Vitesse and Rover Sport alloy wheels.
Mileage is currently 132580 but will increase.
Aircon has just been regassed and is icy cold.
