Welcome to my listing for my lovely 406 3. 0 V6 Executive Estate with automatic transmission.
Introduction
I searched for a long time to find a 2000/ 2001 model Peugeot 406 Executive Estate 3. 0 V6 auto estate model and could never find one. Then this model finally appeared after ages of searching for the right/ correct car. Needless to say I parted with good money and drove it away. I've since continually searched over the years for a similar model for my partner and never found a decent low mileage one to date. I can only conclude that this example has to be one of the rarer and better examples left! My Partner ended up with the rare and as good V6 Coupe version.
The Car
This 406 is great in my opinion. It was top specification in its production year therefore I draw your attention to the header of the listing which details all of the cars attributes, all of which work. It has been totally reliable during my ownership and I'm totally confident it will continue to deliver. The photos help form the description so please study them, but as peoples opinions and expectations vary so much, I welcome potential buyers to fully inspect the vehicle for themselves.
Service/ Maintenance History
The car had a fully stamped service history book when it came to me which I have continued & maintained over the years at great expense with a Peugeot specialist and a family mechanic. I have spent a lot of money on this 406 over the last five years just in routine servicing and maintenance - not that it may have needed it but I like my cars to be correct and spot on for peace of mind! I've regularly used Forte products like engine flush and gas treatment as part of it's servicing programme.
The service history booked is stamped to 2016 plus a full service & timing belt & water pump change have literally just been done in July with parts receipts and old parts to prove. This has been written into the service book. I was going to have this done anyway and had already acquired the parts earlier this year. I'd hate for this nice rare car to eventually end up scrap for the sake of a timing belt which many people overlook or ignore on these models because of the cost so I've spent the money and had it done!
I have some receipts for some of the work carried out during my ownership – some garage receipts and some personal logs with parts receipts from when the family mechanic has performed any work. There will also be other items and work I've either forgotten about or not bothered to log.
Tyres are as new – I've very recently renewed all four tyres with Michelin Energy's and had the four wheel alignment done at a cost of over £350! The car has practically done next to no mileage since.
The exhaust was replaced in 2016 and the battery last year. I've also litterally just had the air-con serviced as it was getting ready so this works as it should. You can't have a car like this without working air-con!
The spare wheel and all tools and jack are in place.
Believe me – anything this car required or needed – it's had right up to present day!
I've loved and wanted for this car to be reliable which it has been and I'm confident it will continue to be.
Bodywork
As illustrated the car is very presentable but the car is 17 years old so whilst in very good order may not be showroom fresh to some. The chrome inserts on the tailgate moulding are blemished. There are minor grazes on both nearside and offside rear bumper corners. Again as peoples expectations and opinions can vary wildly so please take the time to study and zoom in on the photos so you can form your own opinions and assess the cars condition for yourself. I've never been one to try and oversell something!
I've recently put some genuine Peugeot roof bars on the car which are included so you can attach a roof box or whatever as required.
Interior
The interior is in very good order. The drivers seat shows signs of minor wear / deterioration with age and my finger jewellery has caused the steering wheel material to split and peel over time but overall the cockpit is a very smart and presentable place to be. The carpets are in excellent condition and the majority of the leather has aged well. The load space is huge with the rear seats down and it still has it's original load cover with retractable shelf.
Drive
This car drives like a dream (in my opinion). I've had the auto box serviced within it's service history and with all the other servicing and general maintenance during my ownership, the car continues to drive well. It goes very well and surprises many people. It's happy to do whatever you want it to do weather you potter around town or out on the open road where it is better suited. I've been on many holidays in this car - it's great for family trips and long distance journeys.
Niggles
Central display unit fades in warm weather. The fuel flap release works but not correctly. I have to prop the release lever up and then push the flap open as it will not 'spring' open – utensil included.
Any Inspection
Any inspection is welcome – bring your mechanic if you wish.
Driving licence and verifiable proof of insurance required if you wish to drive it otherwise I'll be driving – NO exceptions.
Conclusion
In my opinion and from continued research, you will struggle to find another example let alone with this history and low mileage. I believe this is one to cherish as I have done. I am open to offers and challenge you to find another comparable example!
I thought I would keep this car forever hence my continued maintenance programme with it but the family fleet has now outgrown my financial capabilities and I can only drive one car at once so I'm trying this car on the market very reluctantly however if a suitable price cannot be negotiated then I may in the future consider storage solutions as it's impossible these days to find rare and well looked after examples of any mark let alone one like this.
This 406 comes with handbook pack including service book, two keys (one remote, one none-remote as supplied when new), transponder code card, key number and any receipts & history I hold.
