Beschreibung
This is quite a special 190E - It’s finished in Bornite Metallic and has the full (952) Sportline package. Comprising of front and rear Black Leather Bucket Seats, 390mm Sports steering wheel, Sportline gear shifter and Sports Chassis. It has four electric windows and sunroof.
With regards to condition, it’s very good. Importantly for a late W201, the inner wings are 100% solid, the jacking points are all good, as is everything underneath. It has been garaged by both myself (up until very recently) and the previous owner (Since 2003), and he said the lady he bought it from kept it indoors. The paint has an even finish and is highly polished, there are one or two small chips on the bonnet and so on but is as good as could be reasonably expected for a 25-year-old un-restored car with this mileage. While I have owned it, I have cleaned the entire underside and treated it with Bilt Hamber Dynax UB.
The interior has worn really well, the back seat has hardly been used and the fronts are in similar condition – with minimal wear to the driver’s bolster. The Zebrano trim has a really good shine, the dash needles are nice and orange and the 390mm Leather steering wheel is very nice to hold. It is fitted with a nice Blaupunkt Boston radio, with dash speakers, Pioneer speakers in the rear and a working Hirschmann Power Antenna.
Mechanically the car is A1 – as far as I’m concerned it couldn’t be improved. This is the best driving W201 I have owned, the engine is great, transmission shifts perfectly, there is no play in the steering, knocking or clunking from the suspension and overall the car handles brilliantly on its Continental tyres. The previous owner had the engine Terracleaned and dyno tested – it hasn’t lost any power over the years. It also has a Cobra Stainless cat back exhaust. It isn’t loud or obnoxious in any way and doesn’t drone on the motorway but makes a slightly more purposeful sound than standard and also fits flusher to the underside of the car. I have owned the car since February 2017 and it has been one of the most pleasant cars I’ve ever had. I don’t usually keep cars this long, but I have a real liking for this one based on how superbly well it looks and drives!

At the last service, the car also had new front discs and pads, HT leads, and I have also replaced the expansion tank, thermostat, cap, coolant and fan switch. It has also had 2 new genuine Mercedes Sportline front springs. The wheels have been powder coated and have 4 Continental tyres with at least 5mm tread. The current MOT carries no advisories and runs until 15th December 2018, but I will provide the new owner with a fresh ticket.
As you can see, the car has been maintained regardless of cost and has an A4 file of invoices for basically everything that has ever been spent on the car, it has 3 keys, 2 remote fobs, every MOT from new, tax discs going back to 2004, and an original sales brochure as well as all the owner’s manuals and general paraphernalia. I honestly believe this is one of the best W201s available in terms of specification, drivability and condition. It has been 100% reliable for me; I would drive it anywhere – and enjoy it. I will be gutted to see it go and it’s only for sale due to the fact that I have too many cars and can only enjoy one at a time. Call me for any more information and to arrange viewing – the details below. I would appreciate it to go to a fellow enthusiast, and someone that will look after and enjoy this lovely 190E as much as I have. Before I am sent daft offers, I’ll make it clear that the price isn’t especially negotiable – I am happy to keep this car if it doesn’t sell. I’ll regret getting rid of it anyway!
If you have been, thank you for reading.
