Tastefully customised one off style Yamaha FJ 1200
Very reluctant sale of my 1996 FJ12
Plans to move to Japan are forcing me to sell all my toys and losing the FJ is going to hurt the most.
MOT to December 2019
Brand new Pirelli front tyre.
Purchased from a bike dealer in Wiltshire October 2015 in standard spec and I have customised it over the years to what it is today
Up until very recently it has been my only bike.
Used all year round and always maintained regardless of cost, kept clean and in its best condition.
One of the last to come out of the factory!

In the three years of ownership I have as general maintenance...
Replaced the spark plugs,
Changed the air filter three times,
Changed oil filter three times,
Changed fuel filter three times,
Replaced fuel lines,
Re-sealed inside of the fuel tank,
Re-polished fork legs and fitted new fork seals,
Ultrasonic cleaned the carburettors,
New tyres,
Fitted new fuel pump.
Minor modifications include...
Removed front fairing,
Removed all dials,
Removed mirrors (replacements can be screwed back in easily)
Removed entire ABS system
FZR1000 Rear wheel conversion,
Front wavy brake discs,
Front brake line upgraded to braided steel hose,
Tail section shortened 8 inches,
Mini LED indicators,
Clip ons (inverted)
Exhaust heat wrapped downpipes,
Single lens headlight,
Emgo exhausts.
The front suspension fork legs were re-polished and new seals were fitted by Traxden Motorcycles in northwest London. On another visit there the carburettors were removed and ultrasonic cleaned.
After fitting the emgo exhausts I took the bike to Steve Jordan Motorcycles in Surrey where they rejetted the carburettors and tuned it on the Dyno. (98bhp at rear wheel)
After removing the fairing the wiring loom was visible so I took the bike to TWS Vehicle Wiring in Wiltshire where they removed all unnecessary wiring left over from the ABS system and the front loom was rerouted to hide it all.
A couple of negatives to mention...
When braking you can feel a slight pulsation. A sign the brake discs are slightly warped. It is not enough to bother me and does not affect the braking system safety at all.
When starting the bike from cold it can be a little grumpy. The first few minutes of riding while the choke is pulled you may need to hold a little throttle when stopped in traffic or it may stall. (its an old bike remember!)
Also when the bike is still running cold the revs occasionally do a kind of ‘hiccup’. I don’t know what causes it and it does not always happen. It has never caused the bike to stall or any other problems so I have never deemed it important enough to rectify> Itll only occur while the bike is cold.
Over all I’ve been very happy with the bike and will surely be sad to see it go. I simply would not be selling it if it wasn’t for my plans to move abroad.

It’s great fun to ride, looks great and always gets a lot of positive reactions from people.
It sounds awesome with out being overly loud.
The pops and crackles on the over run are delicious to the ears
An air cooled, manual choke, old school muscle bike with loads of character!
Comes with the standard number plate for next MOT test plus spare big bulb indicators and the centre stand for easier maintenance work

Still in regular use in London however I have very nearly finished customising a Thunderace that I will use right up until I leave. (sale to a family member already agreed) When its ready the FJ will be garaged until sold.
