Description

1954 TRIUMPH TR2 SPORTS ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE (Small mouth, Longdoor)
This early long door TR2 is a highly sought after motorcar due to the car’s eligibility to enter prestigious events such as the Mille Miglia and various other interesting rallies and car events. It is a great showcar and is one of the earliest TR2s with a small mouth and the longdoors. Because of the lighter weight of the longdoors, this sportscar is also much more sprightly than its later siblings. Only around 2800 home market right hand drive, small mouthed longdoor TR2s were produced and this little beauty is one of them. These were produced by the standard Motor Company at the Old Assembly Hall, Cranley. We believe less than 500 are around today.
It is finished in delightful signal red with a black leather trim piped in red with co-ordinating black carpets, black tonneau cover, sidescreens and a new white hood. The car has had only 6 previous careful keepers in its 64 year lifetime and has been enthusiast owned since 2011. A full restoration was started in that year and completed a few years later. The invoices in the history folder amount to a staggering £32000 for the restoration and upkeep. A brake disc conversion took place in 1999 converting the front drum brakes of a TR2 to TR4 disc brakes.
Features include, inertia seat belts, wet weather gear including a full tonneau cover, side screens and a new hood, long doors as aforementioned, rear luggage rack, wheel rim embellishers, overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear.
The history folder: current and previous V5s including the original V5, previous MOTs, DVLA documentation, original registration document, Triumph contact information, invoices for maintenance, restoration and upkeep, correspondence, TR2 Handbook, TR service instruction book, dipstick cleaner, TR advert, seatbelt installation instructions, lubrication chart, TR members registration letter and members application form, previous tax discs and business cards. This is truly a lovely, iconic and very rare sportscar of the 50’s. £23995
