For sale is my Dads 1961 Austin Cambridge, some of the parts are marked August 1961. He bought it in April 1962 from new. It has 171, 604 recorded miles. All servicing, following Austins recommended schedule and repairs including engine replacement/ rebuilds, brakes and lines etc have been done by my Dad when it was running. It is currently on its third engine, an A60 1622cc unit refurbished by my Dad with the crank reground and the cyclinders re-bored by an engineering firm.
The rear leaf springs are the third set fitted and the previous two springs which can be reset are also in the sale deal. The front suspension cross member has been replaced and the Kingpins and bearings have twice been replaced. The original differential was replaced with one from an estate version of the Cambridge, producing less MPH. The original requires a new pinion oil seal and the pinion/ crown wheel mesh. Undamaged rear light cluster lenses and workshop manual are included.
It has not been driven since December 1982 and has been garaged since. The radiator badly damaged. Requires new battery. All brake hydraulic fluid has been lost through leaking near side rear wheel cylinder. Rear wheels locked on as the wheels were not chocked and handbrake left on. Front wheels are locked on too. The most noticeable body work issue is rust bubbling at the bottom of the front wing by the drivers door. Full leather seats although cracked due to age. Refurbished rear differential and Goldseal 1500c engine included.
Car can be moved on trolley jacks. It will need to be transported on a trailer or recovery truck.
