This is a really exceptional Citroen 2CV6 Dolly in "Plums and Custard" colours, probably one of the prettiest options.
The car was bought in 1987 by a lady in Guildford from the local Citroen dealer and the history file contains lots of the original paperwork including the order form and invoice, Citroen book pack, sales literature and service book. She continued to use the car, having it regularly serviced, until 1998 when it was sold to a local retired gentleman who owned it for the following 15 years, keeping it stored for much of the time but also replacing the chassis with a galvanised one from SLC. He eventually passed the car on to a knowledgeable enthusiast who spent the next four years cossetting the car, improving some of the details and fitting a very useful "hatchback" conversion. The car was clearly his pride and joy, and when I bought it I was informed that it had never been out in the rain whilst in his ownership.
I've owned quite a few 2CVs, I love their cheerful character and unique style, and this is undoubtedly the best of them. It's corrosion free, the body and paint are excellent, the interior is pretty much perfect and it's brilliant mechanically. The car seems to have avoided the low point which most 2CVs suffered when they had little value and lots of owners, none of whom wanted to spend any money on maintenance and improvement. In my opinion it's had done everything which needs to be done whilst retaining some of the character which you don't find in the cars which have just been totally restored. The history file has, in addition to the documentation when the car was new, numerous MOTs and a mass of service and parts invoices both from its early years and more recently. It's currently MOT'd until May 2019 but will have a new MOT before sale, and it is, of course, HPI clear.
The car drives without fault and always raises a smile when on the road or parked up. They really are great fun!
