This January 1951 registered Rover P4/ 75 is the rare and desirable ‘Cyclops’, and the first of the P4 series.
This example is well known to the Rover P4 Drivers Guild and although not a recent restoration, the car has had a thorough and comprehensive restoration some years ago and is well documented in a detailed history file which comes with the car.
The car is in excellent all-round condition, bodywork is excellent, there is no rust, bubbling or scratches. Mechanically the car is ‘on the button’ with a healthy 2103cc, 6 litre engine and pulls strongly. The interior is in very good condition, with excellent headlining and woodwork which is highly polished with no cracks, fading or peeling. All the dashboard dials work correctly and the chrome work is very good with no pitting, rust or staining.
WMC452 is the car’s original registration number and still retains all its original features, such as the square dial dash, 15 bar grille, straight handbrake handle and chrome headlight surrounds and is painted in the original Lakeside Green colour of which I know of only two others in this colour.
It was registered new in January 1951 and has a wonderful history file which contains the current V5, including the original 1951 buff log book which show the total ownership history, numerous expired MOT certificates dating back many years and showing the low annual increase in mileage, previous road tax discs, invoices for work completed over the past years and an original Owner’s Manual.
The car is MOT exempt and the recorded mileage is 23350 but this may increase with use.
In my opinion the car is in excellent show condition, and drives beautifully and always receives admiring looks and ‘thumbs up’ on the road or on the rally field. With an extensive history file showing that it has been well restored and well looked after both during my care and with previous owners.
The RP4DG Chairman has put an insurance valuation of 25k on the car, its rarity, condition and colour make this a very special car.
