Bentley Mk VI, four door standard steel sports saloon, petrol 4566cc. The first car from Rolls Royce with all steel coachwork and the first complete car assembled and finished at their factory. This first Bentley Mk VI was a variant of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946 and became the cautiously introduced Silver Dawn of 1949.
The Gurney-Nutting-Blatchley refined shape was sent to the Bentley works at Crewe. They featured rear hinged “suicide” doors at the front with concealed hinges, and a sliding sunroof. The Motor magazine in 1951 tested the car which had a top speed of 100mph and could accelerate from 0-60mph in 15. 0 seconds
By the end of 1952 order-books had shrunk and the Mk VI was replaced by the R-Type. The R-Type led up to the introduction of the completely redesigned S series in 1955.
