This is a genuine UK bike, original receipt with the bike and one owner from new to 2015. The bike was run until 1983 when it was stored until sold in 2015. It would be a shame to restore it, better left as it is.
The bike starts easily when cold - there is no choke, just prime it and be positive when you kick it! It starts with a couple of kicks, and first kick when warmed up. I had it out at the weekend, actually drove it to the MOT guy but he was closed, but a 20 mile round trip and it was a joy to ride. It does not require an MOT but if it gives you piece of mind I could put one on this Friday - weather permitting.
I only bought this last year and had not plans to sell it but I am trying to clear out some bikes for a planned purchase in the near future. Selling a few bikes over next couple of weeks, if this is the one that doesn't sell I wont be too unhappy.
The guy I bought it from got it back on the road and did a lot of upgrades/ replacements as below:
- new monoblocs (these are the type with a shared float bowl - not seen them before)
- new cables and brake shoes, front brake is very good. New fuel pipes and taps.
- Electrex ignition, magneto removed and blanked off (magneto comes with bike) Fits in place of the original alternator - runs without battery.
- new gel battery, rectifier, dual coil, LED stop/ tail and running light
- New tyres, chain, shocks.
The old magneto, carbs, horn and various bits come with the bike pictured, along with an original RE tyre pump. There is also a new 'export' tank, and 2/ 2 down pipes.
I am having a clear out to finance another purchase, so putting 5 or 6 bikes up for sale - only need to sell 3 so hopefully I will be able to keep this one, but if I get the right offer it will go. I am also advertising this elsewhere.
Bike is located near Brechin in Scotland, but can help with local delivery - I am heading down to York on 6th July so if it helps I can stick it in the van.
