Announced in December 2010 The McLaren Edition SLR, was an upgrade programme that was driven by the experiences and feedback from existing owners. The overall result of these changes is a variant of the SLR which not only gives the car a new aggressive look but also significantly changes the way the car handles and rides both on city roads and on the racetrack. The overall weight of the vehicle had been reduced and the new aeropackage achieved 15% more downforce than the already impressive 722 Edition. The full package included the following changes to the standard SLR, Newly designed front and rear lightweight carbon fibre bumpers, Under body with more effective airflow and larger rear carbon fibre diffuser, New airbrake with bespoke calibration, Light weight carbon fibre side panels, 722 GT style wheel arch air vents, Carbon fibre engine cooling vents, Complete vehicle re-paint, Handling package with new suspension and modified steering system, New ceramic coated lightweight sports exhaust and Enamel badges including individual build number on the centre console.
This particular car was supplied new in January 2006 before being imported back into the U. K in January 2007. Originally finished in Mercedes Silver with Red Leather like so many other SLR. In 2011 the decision was taken by the then owner to Commission McLaren Special Operations to carry out the conversion to the McLaren Edition, this car was the third of the 25 cars to be connected by MSO and features a number of options on top of the standard McLaren Edition these included an interior retrim with diamond quilting, Carbon Fibre interior upgrade, Entertainment System upgrade and the addition of a reversing camera.
