Up for sale is this lovely type 2 early bay, right hand drive VW camper from 1969. She is 50 years old and therefore exempt from MOT and road tax. This model has the low level front indicators, round rear lights and rounded bumpers, and is also a tin top so very desirable. The van has been lowered to improve handling and has new tyres, a stainless steel exhaust, Astra GTE seats and new interior. She has a1. 6 twin port engine which pulls very well and she starts, drives and stops very nicely. Although, there is sometimes an issue changing down into 2nd gear from 3rd but it's fine once you get the hang of it. The fuel gauge is not working at present.
There is a 3/ 4 rock and roll bed with rear seat belts and a 2 ring gas hob with grill and pump action water tap for camping. The van is very solid with no welding required and has been re-sprayed in VW Lotus White over Neptune Blue. The documentation is excellent and includes the V5 in my name, UK registration documents from DVLA, Receipt from previous owner, VW birth certificate from VW in Germany and full MOT to August 2020. MOT issued by Luccomb's classic VW specialist garage in Bristol.
I've been having this bus restored over the past 2 years and am now selling on with a view to getting a split screen. Any inspection is welcome but please bear in mind the age of the van and do not expect ABS, traction control and power steering! This van will be of interest to enthusiasts with some experience of VWs and I'd like to sell to someone who will use, maintain and enjoy this bus for years to come.
