Welcome to the sale of my amazing VW Passat. Sancho, that's his name, has been in the family for nearly four and half years. He had a meagre 35000 miles on the clock when we bought him. Since then he has provided comfortable, reliable and stylish transport all over the country and abroad. He has a towbar fitted with two sockets for caravans although I've only used one of them for pulling a car and twin axle trailer. Awesome tow car, it has never felt less than stable.
The interior is really special, black leather with heated front seats, floor mats are clean, the dash is smart and classy with its alloy swathe and quality black plastic surfaces, it has always been a nice place to sit. The driver's seat is electrically adjustable so it's easy to get comfortable as the wheel adjusts for tilt as well.
The stereo is a quality item, the sound is awesome, better than the car that is replacing it in fact, there is an auxiliary socket in the armrest cubby hole and it plays cds as well the radio.
The cruise control works great and perfectly compliments the cruising ability. On a trip I have seen 60mpg but on a tank of mixed conditions(town/ longer trips) driving, it averages out at around 47mpg.
The two litre 140 TDI engine is smooth, powerful and complimented by the 6 speed manual. It's been frequently treated to Redex and this may well have contributed to its smoke free exhaust. I am also very careful with the turbo, I have kept the revs low until the oil has warmed up and I have driven the last few minutes of my journeys on low revs so that the turbo cools down with a good flow of oil to it. The diesel-torque is a pleasure and allows for safe and confident progress when needed. I would jump in it tomorrow and have no fear of driving anywhere.
The service history is good, the cambelt and waterpump were changed in the spring and a new heater fan installed. At the same time, the tyres were replaced and the service was carried out.
The turbo actuator and the AC condenser were changed last year. If Sancho has needed something, I've sorted it. Under the bonnet is also very clean.
The honesty bit - so what is wrong?
-The passenger wing mirror took on a French native last month and lost. It still adjusts electrically and the repeater indicator has been replaced but the body coloured shroud is cracked. It does not defrost as far as I know.
-There is a small dent in the passenger door, blame the kids(I do), it's not visible from most angles but it is there.
-The plastic cover to the 12 volt socket in the rear of the car has come off, (Kids again).
-The outside temperature sensor does not work(its not even attached anymore, never replaced it) but this means the recirculating air system does not work.
-There are a few age related marks.
I am not aware of anything else but do encourage you to come and have a look if you are interested.
The MOT was renewed on the fourth of October so has a full 12 months without advisories. I have the V5 as well as all the keys.
The mileage may go up a little.
