Description

-Late production (E series) Dino, featuring the legendary 2. 4L six and dogleg five-speed

-Full mechanical rebuild, including engine upgrades, at Dominick’s European Car Repair

-Available for the first time after years in a private collection

Sourced via well-known restorer Tom Papadopoulos and residing in a private collection ever since, this stunning ’73 Dino GTS is fully sorted and ready for a new season of driving pleasure. Originally a Rosso Rubino example, the car had a comprehensive color change to its current yellow many years ago, and is a sight to behold once out of the shop and into the sunshine.

Several years ago the car’s current owner commissioned a full mechanical restoration at Dominick’s in White Plains, NY. The 2. 4L six underwent a full rebuild, including upgraded pistons, cams, and other assorted internals from specialists Superperformance. The five speed transaxle and clutch received the same treatment, and the result is a perfectly-shifting gearbox, complete with the satisfying “click” that all Ferrari gated boxes should deliver. A rebuilt cooling system, full brake and suspension service, and new seals throughout complement the upgrades with increased reliability and thoroughly satisfying driving experience.

During the aforementioned mechanical work the Dino received some cosmetic upgrades as well. The stunning Cromodora wheels were powder-coated, along with the engine’s valve covers, and look perfect shod in barely-used Michelin XWX rubber. The yellow paint, while not a recent job, has clearly been looked after and shows very little wear. There are some small spider cracks around the side marker lenses, and a slight color mismatch between the driver’s door and rear quarter under harsh shop lights. Bumpers and brightwork are all very tidy, as is the black targa top, which fits well and stows neatly behind the seats.

Inside, the car features luxurious contemporary options including A/ C and power windows. A period Becker Europa radio and the car’s signature Veglia gauges all look excellent, while a flawless dash, door cards, and seats speak to a well-preserved cabin and careful ownership. As an additional bonus, the car has a custom lumbar cushion for the driver’s seat, stitched to match, that provides a welcome reprieve for the lower back in these deep Ferrari buckets.
