THE OVERVIEW
- Now Offered for an appreciating new owner is my custom classic 1985 Porsche 944 coupe with Renegade Hybrids conversion!
- Finished in factory original color Rubinrot metallic over light tan leather, this 99. 9% rust-free "Porschevette" is certainly NOT your basic 944 or even a 944 turbo!
- Nearly $20, 000 later, after a conversion by Renegade Hybrids of Las Vegas to a Chevrolet Corvette 5. 7 liter 350 cubic inch LT1 V8 engine with 300 horsepower and 340 foot pounds of torque, this 35 year-old Porsche has been transformed into a true sleeper!
- It sports the cool removeable hardtop, electric windows and reclining leather seats.
- A few of the DRIVELINE HIGHLIGHTS include a 10. 4:1 compression, 1. 5" rockers, 24 lb injectors, oem OBll computer harness, LT1 camshaft, 205/ 207 duration @ 50*, . 447/. 459 lift and 117 Lobe separation angle, MSD ignition, cold air intake, Shorty ceramic coated headers, Magnaflow exhaust, Porsche OEM 5 speed manual transmission with Renegade LT1 to Porsche transmission bell housing, Porsche oem transaxle, Ron Davis radiator and more.
- THE SUSPENSION AND OTHER PARTS include H&R lowering springs, Wildwood four-piston brake calipers, stainless steel brake lines, 17" oem Porsche Cup wheels with very good Pirelli rubber, 944 Turbo rear valance, Autogage tachometer and more!
- The recently stopped odometer shows just over 23k miles but the true mileage is unknown ["TMU"]. It is being sold with clear and clean California title in my name.
- This is a fabulous find, for about the cost of THE SALES TAX ALONE ON A NEW Lincoln sedan!
THE BODY AND TRIM
This exterior of this 1985 Porsche is in fair to good rust-free condition overall with a decent overall shine to the paint finish. It is far from a perfect concourse show-quality car but more of a cool, Sunday morning "cars and coffee" driver-quality hot rod. The lights pop up but the bulbs are currently not lighting, there is also a bit of curb rash on the 17" cup wheels. The body has many nicks, scratches, faded and touched up spots. I would call it a presentable ten-footer with a great presence!
THE INTERIOR
As I hope is articulated in the photos, the interior of 944 is in fair/ mediocre condition overall. The dash lights work as does the horn and blinkers, the driver side window works, the gauges light up. The odometer, temp gauge, passenger side window and A/ C are not working, there are dash cracks under the carpet cover, worn upholstery with a patch on the driver side panel, missing radio face plate and other wear spots. Overall it is still a comfortable cockpit to pilot this German American rocket!
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
- This 1985 starts easily with excellent running LT1 engine with excellent instant power delivery, smooth shifting transmission along with light responsive steering and solid suspension.
- As noted in the video the brake pedal is somehow lacking hydraulic boost, there is an annoying rattle inside the passenger side door.
- This is one cool sleeper that still that gleans much attention from fellow motorists... especially when you put your foot into the throttle!
