1973 VW Beetle GT 1600
Thanks for looking at my rare Beetle GT.
Only 2500 every made. Available in three colours from new. This one is L30M Tomato Red. Originally made to celebrate the 300, 000 Beetle sold in the UK.
It is thought that there is only 300 or so left.
Main differences in the car are as follows: Different cloth interior to a standard Beetle, different gear stick, tunnel tray, padded dashboard, large rear light cluster and 4. 5J wheel. 1600cc engine with upgraded gearbox to cruise better. Front disks brakes and also the car is lighter than the standard model.
This car is what I would class as driving restoration. It looks good from 10ft away but could do with some TLC. It drives great but the bodywork is getting tired and has been painted as some point to not the best of standards. Mechanically the car runs strong and drives extremely well. It has had previous welding and will want some more.
The car has been off of the road since 2015. The engine was rebuilt in 2013 . Receipts included to show parts for the rebuild.
The car is listed as a GT in the log book. Engine and chassis numbers on the car match the log book.
I have recently driven the car for 30 miles and it performs well however one headlight and one brake light are not working. I would trailer the car as it has not be used properly in 5 years so there may be other niggles.
