Description
The original Singer 9 Roadster was launched in March 1939; production was suspended for the duration of the Second World War then restarted.
The Model was upgraded in 1949 to the 4A version and was given a 4-speed gearbox and the 1074 cc engine was moved forward to create a roomier 2 door 4-seater interior.
This particular model XHK 598 was produced in 1949 but for some reason not registered until 11th February 1952 when it was purchased by Mr. Laurence Christopher Ellis of Gt Sutton, Mr. Ellice kept the Roadster until the 8th December 1983 when it was purchased by Mr. Harold Jones of Wrexham, it was subsequently acquired by a Mr. Vic Morris of Oswestry Shropshire. The Roadster was next in the care of Mr. Peter Smith of Skipton Yorkshire who bought the car on 15thSeptember 2013, it next surfaced in March 2015 when it was purchased by the current owner Mr. Brian O’Donnell of Wybunbury, Cheshire, a founder of Memory lane Classics Ltd who use the Singer as a show vehicle.
This Particular Singer 9 Roadster appears to have had a very sheltered existence having only had 5 owners and amassed just 75, 961 miles during its current 67-year lifespan and still shows in beautiful condition today.
This particular car was featured on the Singer stand at the NEC classic car exhibition in November 2019 where it attracted many admirers.
