Originally supplied by Rootes Dealers, Ashford Motors in Alton Hampshire and first registered on 23-07-1963 , this Gazelle in Fathom Grey with a Bright Red interior, has been in the same family from new. It had been dry stored for some years due to the illness and subsequent passing of the owner and has just been re-commissioned with a new clutch and brakes. The Gazelle runs very well with the 1600 cc, twin carburettor, engine pulling strongly and quietly with good oil pressure.
Both the engine and the 4 speed, close ratio, all synchro, floor change gearbox were both professionally re-built at 60, 000 miles. The interior is excellent with burr walnut finished dashboard and the Bright Red upholstery is still in good original condition after 57 years.
Although the over designed Gazelle is structurally sound, with good floors and replacement sills we understand about 10 years ago, the bodywork is scruffy could do with cosmetic repair.
The Singer Gazelle has the original sales brochure, owners handbook and original toolkit.
