A really rare example of a Studebaker 6 model 53 with the larger Dictator engine. Originally made in the Studebaker Hamilton JV Ontario factory in 1930 and shipped to New Zealand at the height of the Great Depression.
Registered in Waitoa in 1995 with registration number GR1533. Shipped to Scotland and rebuilt to be recommissioned in 2002 with period registration SSL 361.
Valuation report in 2012 with Classic Assessments Ltd of £24, 750 to £27, 250.
In good working order, engine subjected to significant overhaul in 2011 with new piston assemblies, compression rings and re-bore. High capacity 6 volt battery, electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, stainless steel silencer, replaced water pump graphite seals. Brake cables have all been renewed in 2021.
Just converted to 6/ 12 volts to improve starting. New brake cables all round.
