Launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1938, the S4-61 will be marketed in the next year, and its production having halted in 1942 will continue between 1946 and 1952. Only 2178 units had been produced and it is the troubled period that is responsible for this figure, because the qualities of the model are numerous. The beautiful dual over cam engine with a 1710cm3 bore, its Cotal gearbox and its excellent road handling allowed it to compete with many competitors in the higher category.
The example presented is an interesting L version, the ultimate evolution equipped with hydraulic brakes. Purchased in the beginning of the 2000s by André Trigano, it has benefitted from an older restoration. The bodywork is sound and finished in an elegant two tone paintjob, black on the fenders and flanks, and metallic green for the upper part. The interior in green cloth has also been redone formerly. The example is embellished with beautiful accessory alpax rims and a plate attached to the grille seems to indicate that the car was sold by Hibon in Roubaix. This car deserves an overhaul before returning to the road. The S4-61L, with its pre-war look and the driving pleasure it provides, remains a car that is firmly ahead of its competition.
We inform buyers that all the vehicles in the collection have been little used during the last years as they are part of a museum collection. They are sold as presented and therefore require recommissioning before being driven on the public roads.
Estimate: 10 000 - 15 000 €
