Porsche 3. 2 Carrera Sport Coupe 1989The story of this car is one man’s dream to create an effectively new 3. 2 Carrera Sport for daily use.
Jon Miller has a business in Southern Ireland specialising in the restoration of Classic Porsche and in 2013 sourced one of the very last 3. 2 Carrera Coupes finished in metallic silver with Marine Blue interior for the project showing 108, 000 miles with a comprehensive service history.
There is a detailed documented link to the build on our website, however suffice to say this was an extremely comprehensive restoration with the car being completely stripped back to a bare shell with all rusty panels removed and replaced with new items, whilst the underside was restored with all new/ refurbished components including a full engine rebuild. The interior was largely left untouched to give the car an original feel and smell inside with just the front seats being restored. The decision was made to reset the speedometer when completed in 2014 and six years later, it is now showing approximately 5, 000 miles. The history of the car includes photographs of the speedometer before it was reset. It has been regularly maintained by either us or Porsche main agents since and the current owner has recently had the original sport engine lid removed and a new genuine non sport item painted and fitted by a Porsche approved bodyshop. The original sport engine lid comes with the car giving the new owner the choice of either depending on their preferred appearance.
On the road, this 3. 2 Carrera performs unsurprisingly perhaps like a new 3. 2 Carrera may have done in 1989, whilst the original, excellent interior has a nice patina that would have been lost if renewed.
