Description
In 1934 Dante Giacosa was given permission by Agnelli to start production of the smallest of the small cars of the era. Its size and fender-placed headlights gave it its nickname of Topolino (Mickey Mouse) that aided its purpose of wide acceptance by the masses. Its light body was streamlined to a most aerodynamic shape permitted by placing the radiator not in front but behind the engine. Soon after production begun, the chassis was redesigned to bear semi-elliptical leaf springs to support the extra weight of rear passengers.
The Topolino offered was manufactured as such in 1938 and dispatched to its first owner in Italy. By 1992 it was owned by a Milanese gentleman who decided to part with it in 1995 before being sold to a minicar collector. The car retains most of its original history related documents as well as its FIVA certification.
